we are disrupters in performance technology. We engineer precision wearables with the
same passion, focus, and spirit that athletes show for their training, and we’re here to
help you train with heart.
It was the late ‘90s when Liz noticed something that was fundamentally missing from the physical training world: heart rate monitors without chest straps. With no market leader to speak of, she started Mio in 1999 with a vision of bringing the most advanced wrist-based heart rate monitor technology to athletes at all levels.
Under Liz’s guidance, Mio has steadily grown to produce new and innovative products designed for heart rate training and activity monitoring. Today, she stands among the world’s most experienced leaders in heart rate monitor technology, holding 5 patents and 1 patent pending in the fitness and sport performance categories.
Before starting Mio, Liz held positions with leading tech companies such as Oracle, AT&T, IBM and TELUS.
Mary Jane’s responsibility is to deliver on Mio Global’s vision. She oversees sales, marketing, product management and operations, with a particular emphasis on operational and team building strategies.
With a history of consulting and leadership positions at tech companies such as TELUS, INFORM and ISM-BC, Mary Jane is well versed in the art of bringing leaders together to work towards one goal: To empower athletes with precision-engineered performance wearables.
Mary Jane earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa.
Initially, Emily was a Mio customer. As a certified fitness professional, she recognized the potential for Mio Heart Rate Technology, and transitioned to be our product champion. Today, she connects people and businesses around the world with Mio products.
By assembling a best-of-breed North American sales network and key distribution networks across the globe, she has dramatically grown a global distribution network that brings Mio Performance Wearables to athletes everywhere.
Prior to her position at Mio, Emily was Senior Account Manager at Devlin eBusiness Architects, where she managed the Toyota Lexus account and developed Devlin’s west coast presence.
With more than 20 years of experience designing and implementing internal control systems, Antonio brings financial and operational leadership to keep Mio thriving.
His background of driving organizational change has helped to steer several major technology companies, including Xantrex Technology, Electronic Arts (Canada), Statpower Technology Corporation, and most recently as CFO and Vice President of Finance for Smart Brands Inc.
Antonio holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in British Columbia.
Tricia brings over 20 years of strategic marketing experience to the Mio Global team as VP, Marketing. Currently immersed in building the Mio brand and launching exciting new products,Tricia’s background in consumer branding, retail, eCommerce, and digital have made her a strong influence in the development of Mio over the last 3 years.
Tricia has led marketing strategy for innovative international consumer brands as well as national retail chains, including Future Shop (Best Buy Canada) and Robeez Footwear (Stride Rite).
Mark works at the intersection of new technology and leading-edge biomedical science to deliver the innovation, accuracy, and efficacy that Mio athletes demand from their products.
Prior to Mio, Mark was a Tenured Associate Professor, Department of Kinesiology, at San Francisco State University. While his research expertise is in muscle physiology, he’s also helped to tackle big picture issues related to physical activity and performance. With 14 published peer-reviewed journals and 44 conference presentations, Mio’s resident professor ensures all Mio Performance Wearables are up to standard.
He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University, Canada, completed his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Wollongong, Australia, and later held a Postdoctoral position at the Schulthess Clinic in Switzerland.
Gene is the final word in product design, helping to ensure that all Mio Performance Wearables reflect the style, intuitive simplicity and user experience that athletes demand.
Prior to Mio, he was VP of Design and Product Development for Highgear Inc., a producer of outdoor and sports electronics. His creative team at Highgear produced all company products as well as products for their licensed brand – New Balance.
Gene has worked for some of the most iconic brands in the world, including HP and Apple. He spent 8 years as Design Director at Nike, where he was part of the original Nike Timing Team responsible for the brand’s first running watch.
